Abstract

The blockade of the strait of Hormuz during 2026 Iran war causes severe supply shortages of petroleum products and gas to Europe and Asia. People across Asia suffer from the rising price of transportation, fertilizers, and plastic containers. Hospitals could encounter shortage or rising price of consumables made of plastic. The crisis also disrupts the supply of Helium, the only coolant in MRI operation, from Qatar. The crisis accelerates the governments and the people to rethink their reliance on fossil fuel. An outbreak of hantavirus on a ship in Antarctic region has a link to ASEAN countries due to that most of the crews are Filipinos.
